A public informational forum on temporary shelters and comfort stations during emergency situations will be held on Thursday, February 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buckhannon Public Safety Complex Training Room, 24 South Florida St.

The forum is sponsored by the American Red Cross, Upshur County Community Emergency Response Team and the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Organizers said the event will cover the similarities and differences between temporary shelters and temporary comfort stations, the basic operations of each and answer questions from attendees. Representatives will also be taking information from businesses and organizations interested in becoming temporary shelters or comfort stations during emergency incidents.

The forum is not related to long-term shelters or housing, according to Upshur County DHSEM.

The event is open to the public and to any interested businesses and organizations. Pre-registration is not required.
