Patsy R. (Wamsley) Hite

Patsy R. (Wamsley) Hite, 71, of Hodgesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at her home with her loving husband beside her. She was born on December 15, 1951, to the late Robert W. and Naomi Wamsley, who survives. 

During her childhood, Patsy lived in Valley Bend, WV, attending the Homestead School and graduated Tygart Valley High School in 1969.  She graduated from the WV Beauty Academy in 1970.  On December 16, 1971, Patsy married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Chris Hite.  They welcomed two daughters, Anissa and Tracy to their loving family.  As an active and caring mother, Patsy volunteered with her daughters’ activities by being a Girl Scout leader, part of their sports booster programs, and being the biggest supporter of them.  Patsy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Upshur County Shrine Club Auxiliary.  Patsy was a Methodist by faith.  Patsy’s creativity shown through her gardening, landscaping, and woodworking.  Her spirit was reflected in her beautiful smile, her quick laugh, and her kind words.  Patsy’s strength was shown every day of her life.  Before children, she was a beautician.  After the girls were older, Patsy worked at Aladdin Foods at Wesleyan College for ten years and retired from WVU St. Joseph’s Hospital after eleven years of service. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brothers:  Bob and Carl Wamsley; her brothers-in-law:  Luther Siler and Butch Nice; her nephew and niece Billy and Susanna Forinash; her father-in-law Shirley P. Hite; her mother-in-law Mary F. Hite; and sister-in-law Linda F. Hite.  Patsy will be missed by all that knew her.  Those who will miss her the most are her loving family—her husband of 51 years Chris Hite; her mother Naomi Wamsley; her daughters:  Anissa (John) Davis and Tracy (Billy) Hurst; her grandchildren:  Cara (Jared) Carpenter, Cassie (Tim Wagoner) Davis, Jordan (Brent) Sines, Kyndal Davis, Abby Hurst and Baylee Hurst; great grandchildren:  Bryson and Abbi Waugh, John Ryan and Josey Mae Carpenter; sisters:  Diane Siler, Donna (Mark) Forinash, Joyce Nice, Connie Wamsley, and Beverly Wamsley; siblings by marriage:  Steve Hite and Cindy (Bob Beverly) Hite; nieces and nephews she dearly loved:  Jennifer (Christopher) Tapier, Kathy (Patrick) Rupinen, William and Morgan Wamsley, Brian Nice, Amanda (Lucas) Griffin, Justin Wamsley, Leigh Carder, Kayleen (Keith) Sears, Austin Carder, Tyler Jackson, Makenzie Jackson, Michael (Desi) Hite, and Courtney (Sandeep Vennam) Hite.

The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, the funeral hour.  Interment will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upshur-Lewis Animal Control Facility, 318 Mud Lick Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
