Pamela K. Landis, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born June 2, 1952, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late James Oscar and Elizabeth Ruth Shreve Fortney.
On August 26, 1969, she married Curtis Dow Wentz, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1979. She married her second husband, James Hayward Landis, on July 4, 1991, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Mabel Louise Wright and husband Todd, and siblings, Bob Fortney and June Trainer. Additionally, she was blessed with a blended family of three granddaughters, Melinda Snider and husband Derek, Marissa Bednarz and husband Aaron, and Alayna Anderson and husband Aaron; and eight great-grandchildren, Royce Snider, Brennan Snider, Hailee Anderson, Carly Anderson, Bentley Anderson, Griffin Snider, Aspen Bednarz, and Randy Anderson.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Richard Fortney, Ronnie Fortney, Mary Chandler, Bonnie Tenney, and Diana Wright.
Mrs. Landis dedicated her life to caring for residents at Holbrook’s Nursing Home, where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for over 30 years. She was happiest spending time with her sisters and watching her great-grandchildren play.
In honoring Mrs. Landis’ wishes, she will be cremated, and a private celebration of life will be held for her family.
