BUCKHANNON – Buckhannon’s Olde Rustic Antiques is celebrating the holidays with a few throwbacks through time.

Olde Rustic Antique’s Second Annual Christmas in the Past Celebration takes place Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6431 Clarksburg Rd. in Buckhannon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. One of the owners of Old Rustic Antiques Cindy Karickhoff said the celebration is meant for their customers.

“Our Christmas open house is just really for our customers – it’s to say thank you for the wonderful year, and we give discounts,” Karickhoff said. “There will be drawings through every purchase, and they can draw a ticket to see what their savings are going to be, so you may draw from 10, 15, 20 or 25 percent off that day.”

The store only carries early antiques from the 1700s, 1800s and early 1900s. Karickhoff said she uses the antiques to bring a ‘Christmas in the Past’ to life.

“We do hold things back just for this special event,” Karickhoff said. “I’ve been holding back a lot of new antique furniture and new inventory from small to big furniture.”

She said all the decorations she uses for the celebration will also be for sale — and those items are all authentic antiques from the past.

“We work hard to keep the past alive and the first one was such a wonderful success and of course, we are a newer business, so every year we try to do a little bit more for customers,” Karickhoff said. “This year, we did our first Fall Fest where we had a bluegrass band playing on the porch and refreshments and had somebody doing a blacksmith demonstration, so each year, we try to step it up a little bit more.”

She said with every purchase, people will receive a free gift, and Olde Rustic Antiques offers offer layaway throughout the year.

“We offer layaways all year round – not just for Christmas, but we do a lot of layaway around Christmas,” Karickhoff said. “We try to work for the customers and help them and let them make payments on things when they can.”

The celebration will also feature refreshments, door prizes and drawings. Olde Rustic Antiques has a Facebook page that shows new arrivals and updates, and they may also be reached at 304-472-2017.
