Oden worked for many years in the transportation and service industry, culminating his career as Vice-President of Potomac Ford Truck, having received numerous awards for service and management excellence.

After retirement, Oden took up his favorite hobby with a vocation as a barber.  He owned two barber shops in Maryland and enjoyed this time of his life. Oden and Irene were also real estate agents and had shared fun in that venture together.

After yet another retirement, he and his wife, Irene, moved back to West Virginia to be close to their son, Bill, who was in bad health. Oden had fond memories of growing up in the Three Lick Road area.  He learned so much from his grandparents and taught any who would listen valuable life lessons.  He enjoyed visiting several Churches where he had been invited to speak.
