No one hurt in Route 20 South wreck in front of funeral home

A Chevy Trax involved in a rear-end collision Wednesday in front of Heavner & Cutright Funeral Home.

BUCKHANNON – No one was injured in a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday that occurred on Route 20 South Road in front of the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Home.

Dana Mathes, 26, of French Creek, ran into the back of another vehicle that was stopped in traffic in front of the Heavner & Cutright Funeral home. The wreck occurred just before 3 p.m. Sept. 9, according to investigating officer Cpl. T.A. Menendez with the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Menendez said a silver 2014 Jeep Compass, driven by a juvenile, stopped in traffic and Mathes, who was driving a gray 2019 Chevy Trax, failed to see the stopped vehicle in time, so she slammed on her brakes.

However, she didn’t stop in time, so she collided with the rear end of the Jeep.
