Mattie Dora Long

Mattie Dora Long, age 78, formerly of the Gaines community, passed away peacefully at her home in West Milford, WV, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. 

She was born on March 20, 1945, in Cecil, Georgia, a daughter of the late Willie and Annalene Wyatt.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three siblings and one son Joseph Long. 

She is survived by her life companion Frank Beall of West Milford; two daughters:  Lori and husband David Harris of Buckhannon and Amy (Wilson) Detamore and husband Chris of French Creek; four grandchildren:  Stormy and husband Taylor Poole of Burnsville, WV, Autumn Harris of Buckhannon, Austin Wilson of Gaines, and Adele and husband Wesley Summers of Buckhannon.

Mattie formerly worked at the Deer Park Inn and retired from Kay’s Diner in French Creek.  She enjoyed her flowers, sewing, canning, camping, and spending time with her family.

To honor Mattie’s last request, her body will be cremated.  A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gaines Community Building Fund, c/o Betty Collins, 14406 Route 20 South Road, Rock Cave, WV 26234.
