Mary Lillian Russell, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, September 25, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 8, 1941, in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Dorn “Pete” and Virginia Dawson Westfall. On August 18, 1962, she married Nelson Russell, who survives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Aleen and Christopher Linger; one son-in-law, Darrell Cable; four siblings, Roger and Dorn Westfall, Marlene Wagoner, and Shirley Landis; two brothers-in-law, Larry Landis and Ken Spotloe; and one sister-in-law, Loretta Westfall.
In addition to her loving husband of 64 good years, she is survived by three daughters, Frances Tenney and husband Phillip of Hemlock, WV, Marilyn Linger and husband Kyle of Buckhannon, and Shiela Cain and husband Robert of Lumberport, WV; one son, Matt Russell of Buckhannon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three siblings, Wilma Kelley and husband Gary of VA, Sue Spotloe of Cutright Chapel, WV, and Frank Westfall and wife Connie of Pennsboro, WV; one brother-in-law, Teddy Wagoner of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Sandy Westfall of Weston, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Russell was a caregiver and woman of great faith who shared with everyone that she looked forward to being reunited with all her family and friends in Heaven.
Friends will be received Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tristan Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery in Ten Mile, WV, with Rev. Brad Tenney officiating.
