West Virginia Wesleyan was picked seventh in the 2026 MEC men’s cross country preseason poll. Defending champion Charleston claimed the top spot with 10 first-place votes, while the season begins Sept. 3.

Registration is open for West Virginia’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop, Sept. 25–27 at Cacapon Resort State Park. The $225 event offers more than 20 hands-on classes in hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation for women of all skill levels.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey celebrated the opening of North Central West Virginia Airport’s new passenger terminal, designed to expand air service and spur regional growth. The state also provided nearly $2 million to help complete a connecting taxiway.
