WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan College Lady Bobcats won their eighth straight game in decisive fashion Thursday, beating West Liberty 3-0.

Wesleyan drew first blood in the 14th minute when Chrystal Posada ran onto a crisp cross from Natalie Prater inside the six and one-timed into the left lower corner of the net.

West Liberty was able to weather more heavy offensive pressure from the visitors for several minutes, but the Bobcats’ Audrey Barber upped the margin to 2-0 in the 30th minute with a goal off an assist from Makatlyn Tucker.

Tucker wrapped up the scoring with an unassisted insurance goal in the 57th minute.

Wesleyan outshot the Hilltoppers by a 22-6 margin and had a 7-2 edge in corners. Olivia Montgomery was charted with seven saves in net for the Black and Gold while Chelsea Hubner and Ashlee Schumacher combined for three saves for the Bobcats.

The Lady Cats have outscored their opponents 11-0 in their last three games and remain unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play.

That scoring binge should continue as coach Richard Owens’ squad will host first-year program Glenville State on Sunday. Wesleyan won the previous meeting at Glenville 9-0.

They’ll then face a tougher test at Charleston on Wednesday before returning to Buckhannon for a big game against Notre Dame College on Oct. 14. Kickoff for that match is set for 4 p.m.
