Lady Bucs down West Greene (Pa.) in Holiday Hoop Fest, 51-27

CALIFORNIA (Pa.) – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs took a 10-5 lead after one quarter of play against West Greene (Pa.) and never looked back in a 51-27 victory Tuesday night in the 2021 California (Pa.) Holiday Hoop Festival.

The Lady Bucs built on their lead in the second quarter and led at the break by a 27-17 score.

The Lady Bucs dominated the third quarter limiting West Greene to just one point as they took a 41-18 lead head into the fourth quarter.

They extended their advantage to 24 points at the end of the game.

“We got off to a slow start and didn’t make a lot of shots early,” noted Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Rob Kittle. “We came out with a dominant third quarter and our shot selection was very good. We moved the ball great, but we just didn’t make a lot of shots early though. Defensively we did a great job of speeding them up and they were rushing a lot shots and we were able to create a lot of turnovers.”

Kendal Currence led the Lady Bucs with 16 points while Shelby McDaniels chipped in 13 and Kyndal Davis 10.

The win improved the Lady Bucs to 5-0 on the season.

They will wrap up play in the Holiday Hoop Festival Wednesday as they play Pittsburgh Allderdice (Pa.) at 1 p.m.
