Lacrosse Lady Bucs fall in debut to University, 15-7

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team dropped their season opener to University by a 15-7 score Wednesday evening at Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.

Kendall Defibaugh led the Buckhannon-Upshur scoring attack with three goals while Maya Garcia contributed two each and Mallory Moss and Jessica Sandberg each had one.

Zoe Mackey paced University with five goals.

University held a 27-13 margin in shots-on-goal.

Kaylee Black led the B-U squad with eight ground balls while Garcia collected seven.

Haylea Crihfield made 10 saves in net while Josie Rosencrance had two. Lucy Lambert made six stops for the Hawks.

The Lady Bucs (0-1) will face Fairmont Senior (2-0) Friday night at 8 p.m.

They will be back in action Wednesday at Morgantown at 7:30 p.m.
