Lacrosse Bucs pick up first win over John Marshall, 8-2

MOUNDSVILLE – The Buckhannon-Upshur boy’s lacrosse team picked up their first victory of the season this past Saturday with an 8-2 victory over the John Marshall Monarchs.

The Bucs raced out to a 4-0 lead after one quarter and a 6-1 advantage at the break en route to a six-goal lead.

Justin Streets led the B-U offense with three goals and three assists while Kyle McCann, Forest Catlin, Jayden Stackpole, Kevin Bohnsack and Ranger Burgess each had one goal apiece.

B-U had 26 shots-on-goal.

Bohnsack and Kaleb Kowalkoski led the team with nine ground balls apiece.

Buckhannon-Upshur keeper Remmy Bonnett made four saves in net in the win.

Prior to that, the Bucs dropped games to George Washington by a 16-3 score and Mountain State by a 13-4 score.

In the George Washington loss, Streets had two goals while Tobias Marple had one.

In the setback to Mountain State, Streets had three goals while Stackpole had one.

The action left the Bucs with a 1-3 record.

They will be back in action Thursday on the road against Linsly with the match starting at 7 p.m.
