Karen S. Helmick

Karen S. Helmick, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, December 25, 2023, at her home.

She was born April 1, 1943, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Leon and Anna Virginia Crawford Ervin. On July 12, 1958, she married Jackie “Jack” O’Neil Helmick who preceded her in death on April 4, 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Helmick and Betty Lou Tenney.

Surviving are two daughters, Barb Hinkle and husband Rod and Pam Helmick all of Buckhannon; one son, Rex Helmick and wife Debbie of Weston, WV; three grandsons, Clinton Helmick and wife Tabatha of Weston, Tim Holt and Allison Sharp of Hagerstown, MD and Broderick Hinkle and fiancée Alexandria Herron of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Sara Robinson of Weston; eight great grandsons, Emmanulle “Manny Robinson III, Brayden Helmick and Connor Murray all of Weston, Karter and Kameron Holt both of Hagerstown, Maddix Hinkle of Elkins, WV and Maverick and Hendrick Hinkle both of Buckhannon; five great granddaughters, Daylen Robinson, Bailey and Brynlee Helmick and Olivia Daly all of Weston and Calea Hinkle of Elkins; one brother, James Ervin and wife Vicki of French Creek, WV; two brothers-in-law, Bob Helmick and Rev. Eugene Helmick and wife Lucille all of Buckhannon; three sisters-in-law, Mona Helmick, Peggy Ball and Ruby Helmick all of Buckhannon; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and special friends, Linda Lee, Sheila Loudin, Susan Plum and Rhonda Cerullo.

Mrs. Helmick worked in housekeeping and laundry services for St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 30 years and was a member of the Sago Baptist Church in Sago, WV.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of WVU Medicine Hospice for their excellent care of Mrs. Helmick.
