JV Bucs earn first win, down Knights, 54-45

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers picked up their first win of the season with a convincing 54-45 victory over the Preston Knights Tuesday evening.

The JV Bucs are now 1-2 on the season.

The JV Bucs trailed by a 23-22 margin at the break but took the third quarter by a 14-8 margin for a 36-31 advantage going into the final stanza.

Keyton Lanier and Carter Zuliani each had six points and Ryan Kelley added a basket for the JV Bucs in the third canto.

The JV Bucs finished off the Knights winning the final quarter by an 18-14 margin with Luke Yardley scoring 11 points, Ryan Snyder four, Zuliani two and Lanier one.

Yardley led the JV Bucs with 14 points while Zuliani added 12 and Snyder eight.

Cordell Ayers paced Preston with 13 points.

The JV Bucs will be back in action Wednesday as they visit Lewis County for a 5:45 p.m. start.
