Junior “Cat” W. Channell

Junior “Cat” W. Channell, 99, of Buckhannon, W.Va. died Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Holbrook Health Care Center in Buckhannon.

He was born February 7, 1921, in Valley Head, W.Va., a son of the late Canter and Fannie Pritt Channell.

On April 22, 1944, he married Eva Louise Ware who preceded him in death on October 3, 2010.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Brooks Channell and infant brother, Gene Channell and one sister, Nevada Hamrick.

Surviving are three sons, Franklin Channell and wife Linda of Morgantown, W.Va., Ronald Channell and Terri Channell of Clarksburg, W.Va. and Donald “Bill” Channell and wife Martha of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Beth Wickline and husband Robert of Linside, W.Va., Lori Channell of Seattle, Wash. and Michele Poling and husband Joey of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Michael Channell and wife Amanda of Buckhannon, Shawn Channell of Boston, Mass. and Brian Channell and wife Angie of Morgantown; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Jennings Channell and wife Lenna and Lowell Channell and wife Betty all of Ohio and two sisters, Izetta Aubel of Ohio and Jevana Linkenfelter of Virginia.

Mr. Channell was a Methodist by faith and a coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA District 31 for Bethlehem Mining and loved going to different churches for singing and fellowship.

A private service was held for the family.
