Junie J. Simmons McClure, age 93, of French Creek and formerly of Pickens, died on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born June 29, 1932, in Helvetia, a daughter of the late Emmit and Nona Bell Tenney Simmons.
She was united in marriage on December 13, 1949, to Fred McClure, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Louise McClure; one son-in-law, Larry VanGilder; and one great-grandson, Christopher Howell; four brothers, Donald, Richard, James, and Purlly Simmons; and three sisters, Delma Howes, Reta Murphy, and Clarabelle Friend.
She is survived by three daughters: Dorothy Uphold of Belington, Mildred McClure of French Creek, and Vickie Bennington and husband George of Buckhannon; three sons: Jerry McClure and wife Marty of North Carolina, Donald McClure of Buckhannon, and Raymond McClure and wife Linda of French Creek; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Sherwood “Woody” Simmons of Buckhannon; and one sister, Mary Alice McClure of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; and one special daughter-in-law, Susan Bonhill McClure of Ohio.
Mrs. McClure was a born-again Christian and a member of the Pickens Baptist Church.
Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, the funeral hour, with Rev. Jeff Swecker officiating. Interment will follow in the Pickens Cemetery.
