June Marie Cutright

June Marie Cutright, 65, admitted to Tidewell Hospice-Port Charlotte on Sunday, April 5, 2026, passed on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born May 30, 1960, in Buckhannon, WV. June graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1978. She attended West Virginia University and Florida Atlantic University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in April 1993.

June lived life to the fullest. She was free spirited and refused to live on convention alone. She lived in Europe, mostly Oxford, for some time before returning to the states and living in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Johnson City, Tennessee; and Punta Gorda, Florida.

She is survived by her husband Brian Stockley, a Scottish Gentleman whom she met when visiting a friend in Scotland. Also surviving are her mother, Ilene Marie (Pat) Murray and sister, Johanna (Scott) Albright of Buckhannon, WV; brother, Burl H. Cutright III (Beverly) of Punta Gorda, FL; nieces and nephews, Burl H. Cutright IV, and Chloe Marie Cutright of Punta Gorda, FL; Henry Albright (Alexa) of Morgantown, WV; and Hilary Sue Albright of Buckhannon, WV; and great-nephews, Brantley Wade and Barrett Glen Wilson of Buckhannon, WV.

June was preceded in death by her father, Burl H. Cutright Jr.; her paternal grandparents, Pauline and Burl H. Cutright Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Elza and Mazie Currence, as well as her stepbrother, Scott Murray.

June Marie was a unique and gifted woman. A talented seamstress, she gifted many handmade items such as sweaters, men and women’s trousers, as well as coats and scarves. She loved to work with natural fabrics: cotton, linen, silk, and wool. She taught herself to knit reading French. She loved to prepare delicious meals and spend time tending her beautiful garden. She especially loved reading and keeping up on political events; she was always up for a lively discussion. She could be the life of any party with her humor and big smile.

Once at a fish fry in their neighborhood, someone came up to June and Burl to ask June how she knew Burl, and she said, “I met him the day Mother brought him home from the hospital.”

Following June’s wishes, she was cremated. Memorial donations can be made in June’s name to support Multiple Sclerosis organizations or cancer research.
