John Daniel Tenney

John Daniel Tenney, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Teays Valley Center in Hurricane, WV.

He was the youngest of five children to Forrest Glen Tenney and Ireta Jane Lewis Tenney. He had one daughter, Johnna Darnell and husband Matthew of Charleston WV, who survives him. He has two surviving sisters, Thelma Moore of Yakima, WA, and Karen Woody and husband Dale of Buckhannon, WV. He was preceded in death by two brothers Gene Tenney and Jennings Tenney. He is also survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Mary Lucille Brady Tenney of WV. He had three stepsons, Virgil “Rusty” White, Rick White and wife Anita Adams White, and Rocky White all from WV; four step-grandchildren, Dillon White of WV, Lindsay Wagner and husband Daniel of PA, Ethan White and wife Carolyn of MD, and Coleton White of MT; three step-great grandchildren Greyson Flores, Landan and Maliyah Wagner of PA.

He was a press operator supervisor for Moore Business Forms for thirty years. Additionally, he was a dedicated EMT/Paramedic who started as a volunteer in 1973 and was with the squad until retirement. He was also a CPR and advanced training instructor. He is an honorary member of the Upshur County emergency squad. He also envisioned and helped fund the current Helipad at St. Joesph’s Hospital that is still in use today.

In honoring John’s wishes, he will be cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
