The City of Buckhannon is accepting applications through August 14, 2026, for a motivated, organized clerk to provide support in its municipal and utility office.
The position plays a key role in serving the public and assisting with the daily operations of local government and utility operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing clerical and administrative support to department staff and management.
- Responding to public inquiries in person, by phone and by email in a courteous, professional manner.
- Preparing, filing and maintaining official documents, records and reports.
- Data entry, answering phones and general office duties.
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under deadlines.
- A background in finance is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk in inclement weather.
The hourly rate starts at $15.00 per hour with benefits, dependent on skills. Applicants will be subject to skills testing, drug screening and a background check.
