Jerry Maynord Hanifan

Jerry Maynord Hanifan, 84, of Buckhannon, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on July 23, 1937, in Cubana, WV, a son of the late Jess and Lola (Zickefoose) Hanifan. 

He was united in marriage on April 27, 1956, to Carolyn Luella (Harman) Hanifan, who survives. Also surviving are two sons: Rick Hanifan and wife Kathy and Kevin Hanifan and wife Pam both of Buckhannon; six grandchildren:  Leslie Hanifan (Mikealo) of Bridgeport, Becky Norris (Brian), Elizabeth Wright (Rusty), Daniel Hanifan, and Nathaniel Hanifan, all of Buckhannon, and Hannah Hanifan (Tylin) of Belington, WV; three great-grandchildren: Kylie, Taylor, and Bryson Wright all of Buckhannon; two brothers, Marvin Hanifan of Buckhannon and Denver (Hilda) Hanifan of Cubana, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.

Mr. Hanifan was employed by Union Drilling for 38 years and retired from Great Oak Energy after seven years. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandpappy.

A funeral will be on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow at the Simmons Cemetery in Cubana, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1941 Bishop Ln. #108 Louisville, KY 40218.
