Jerry Allen Strader

Jerry Allen Strader, 76, of Weirton passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Weirton Medical Center.

Born May 19, 1943 in Buckhannon, W.Va., he was a son of the late Harold I. and Maxine J. Hamner Strader. He was also preceded in death by his brother Teddy Eugene Strader.

Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. After 41 years of service, Jerry retired from American General where he was a certified LUTCF life insurance agent. 

Jerry enjoyed riding on his tractor and four- wheeler on the family farm near Sago, W.Va., which was in his family for many generations. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and loved spending time with his family. He attended Kings Creek Union Chapel in Weirton.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Greta M. Smith Strader; sons Mark (Linda) Strader of Pleasant Mills, Indiana, Timothy (Anita) Strader of New Cumberland, W.Va. and Harold D. (Pam) Strader of Willshire, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandsons and sisters Carol (Bill) Burr of Weirton, W.Va., Sandy (Stephen) McCartney of Buckhannon, W.Va. and Robyn McCartney of Ashland, Ohio.

Friends will be received Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Additional visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Poling St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon, W.Va., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Reverend Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tallmansville, W.Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kings Creek Union Chapel, 2883 Kings Creek Road, Weirton, WV 26062, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
