Jack Gail Turner

Jack Gail Turner, 84, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

He was born February 25, 1935, in Gilmer County, W.Va., a son of the late Gail and Dessie Vanoy Turner.

On July 12, 1957, he married Polly Elbon who survives of Buckhannon.

Also surviving are one daughter, Donna Simons of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Samantha Wilmoth of Weston, W.Va.; one great-grandson, Tyler Ables of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Tabitha Wilmoth of Weston; grandson-in-law, Johnny Ables of Buckhannon; one brother, James L. Turner of Ohio; nephew, James L. Turner, Jr.; four step siblings; beloved dogs, MyMy and Chloe; several other nieces and nephews, all were dear to him but Danny R. Cutright of Buckhannon held a special place in Jack’s heart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tabitha Ables.

Jack loved to work on cars and trade them with his buddy JJ and he enjoyed mowing grass. He was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. Jack was a member of the Sago Baptist Church.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help Elbon Cemetery c/o Wease Day, 3396 Sago Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
