Helen Sue Roby Smith

Helen Sue Roby Smith, age 76, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV.

She was born November 6, 1946, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Glendle Willard and Nellie Frances Smith Roby. On August 23, 1968, she married Garfield Allen Smith who preceded her in death on January 11, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Vicky Landers and twin daughters Jenny and Penny Smith; two grandsons, Thomas Smith and William Bowman; one great-grandson, Thomas Andrew Smith and five sisters, Annabell Rucker, Martha Rice, Joanne Launier, Betty Labarge and Glenna Starkey. 

She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Sines and Madaline Bowman and husband Darren, II all of Buckhannon; eight grandchildren, Karen Allen and husband Rondal, Howard Landers, II and Joanna Betler and husband Matthew all of Buckhannon, Gilbert Tenney and fiancé Courtney Cox of Craigsville, WV, Garett Tenney, and Elacia, Vicky and Jayla Bowman all of Buckhannon; eight great-grandchildren, Isebella & Lucas Nottingham, Raeylnn Betler, Kade Bonner, Devynn Allen, Brayden and Paisley Tenney and Elliott Spears all of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith was a jack of all trades, master of none homemaker who always put her family first. She was a Christian by faith who loved solving jigsaw puzzles and watching game shows.

Friends will be received Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM. A funeral will be held 1 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Simpson Cemetery in Roanoke, WV.
