Goldie Hyre, 86, of Buckhannon, W.Va. died Thursday, July 23, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Manassas, Va.

She was born December 19, 1933, in Upshur County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Dorfey and Lilly Lance Smith.

On October 3, 1953 she married Roy Ellis Hyre who preceded her in death on March 31, 2014.

Surviving are her daughter, Serena Muratori and husband Al of Manassas.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Ward, Marie Scott, Sylvia Payne and infant sister, gone too soon, Elizabeth Lance and two brothers, Leroy and Bernard Smith.

Mrs. Hyre was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She loved to collect antiques and enjoyed her flower gardens.

Friends will be received Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
