Glenville State College to celebrate 150th Anniversary with Winter Homecoming, Founders Day of Giving, more on February 19

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State College will celebrate its sesquicentennial on Saturday, February 19. That date marks 150 years since the College’s founding in 1872.

The day will be filled with events, including an Open House for prospective students, the College’s annual Winter Homecoming, the Founders Day of Giving fundraising event, student events, a Founders Day Gala, and more.

Throughout the day, the College’s annual Founders Day of Giving will be taking place. The giving campaign will focus on raising money for areas of need on campus such as academics, athletics, scholarships, campus improvements, and more.

The Winter Open House for prospective students will provide visitors an opportunity to tour campus, meet with faculty members, discuss financial aid, and more. Visit https://go.glenville.edu/WinterOpenHouse for more information and to sign up.

Starting at 12:00 p.m., the GSC Alumni and Foundation Offices will open “The Deck,” which is the ultimate fan section where alumni and friends of the College can come together inside the Waco Center for food, beverages, and a great time.

Both GSC Pioneer basketball teams will host the West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats at GSC’s Waco Center that afternoon. The women’s team plays at 1:00 p.m. and the men’s game tips off at 3:00 p.m. Returning Pioneer and Lady Pioneer basketball players will be recognized during halftime of the Lady Pioneer game.

The Pioneer baseball team will play a doubleheader at the Sue Morris Sports Complex, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Students, alumni, and community members will also hold various “snowball” tailgates as part of the day’s events.

Closing out the day will be a Founders Day Gala. The gala includes a reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner, dancing, and an anniversary toast.
