CHARLESTON, W.Va. – More than 6,500 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies are heading to local veterans, active military members and military families thanks to the generosity of those who supported Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council’s 2026 Girl Scout Cookie Entrepreneur Program.
Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council hosted its annual Gift of Caring donation event on Tuesday, June 9, at the Girl Scout and Volunteer Resource Center in Charleston, where 6,596 boxes of cookies were prepared for distribution in partnership with the West Virginia Gold Star Mothers Association and the West Virginia National Guard Foundation.
The donations were made possible through the Gift of Caring program during the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie Entrepreneur Program, where customers could purchase cookies to support military members and veterans while also investing in local Girl Scout experiences.
Each $6 donation secured a box of cookies for a service member or military family, while proceeds remained local to support Girl Scout programming, camp experiences, service projects and leadership opportunities across the council.
“Gift of Caring is one of the most meaningful parts of the Girl Scout Cookie Program because it allows girls to see the direct impact service can have in their communities,” said Beth Casey, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council. “Through this program, girls learn the value of giving back while honoring the sacrifices made by our military members and veterans.”
During the event, local Girl Scouts helped load donated cases of cookies into vehicles for delivery, celebrating the collective impact made possible through community support.
The annual tradition continues to connect Girl Scouts with their communities while helping girls build confidence, compassion and leadership skills that last a lifetime.
