Free family nutrition and cooking class to begin July 30 in Buckhannon

BUCKHANNON — The Mountain CAP Family Support Center, in collaboration with the West Virginia University Extension Service, will soon offer a free Family Nutrition & Cooking class. This initiative begins on July 30 at 11:30 a.m. and will be held at 30 East Main Street in Buckhannon.

The class, consisting of nine individual 1.5-hour lessons, is designed to promote healthy lifestyle choices and increased physical activity. Lessons will cover healthy meal planning, sampling new foods and recipes, and tips for saving money on groceries. Weekly giveaways and a graduation certificate will also be provided.

Participants will gain a broad range of skills, including:

  • Learning how to cook healthy meals
  • Gaining money-saving tips
  • Sampling new foods and receiving recipes
  • Learning how to keep food safe

Child care is available at no cost if arranged prior to the start of the class. Space is limited to 12 participants.
