BUCKHANNON — The Fred Brooks Garden Club honored our veterans by placing a wreath on the Blue Star Marker at Upshur County Courthouse on Thursday morning, Veterans Day. 

The garden club was given a boost when Lowe’s of Buckhannon store manager Cody McGee donated bags of garden soil and top soil to help upgrade the Blue Star Marker on Rt. 33 East at Morton Avenue.  Club members Karen Coit,
Jason Jett, Beth Cupp and Donna Carpenter worked last week winterizing the plot, thinning out plants and planting bulbs for spring.
