Eva Kathryn Queen Howes

Eva Kathryn Queen Howes, 87, of Buckhannon, joined her husband in Heaven on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, after an extended illness.

She was born in Buckhannon on February 3, 1933, a daughter of the late Ovid “Quay” and Ruth Sutton Queen.

On April 13, 1953, Kathy married the love of her life, Dayton Ellis Howes, who passed away January 4, 2020. Together they enjoyed the joys of marriage and raising their three daughters.

Forever cherishing their memories of her pecan pies and homemade applesauce are two daughters: Annette Marquardt-Kimball and husband, Larry, of Morgan, Utah, and Stella Ruth Howes of Brownsville, Pa.; four grandchildren: Melissa Daugherty and husband, Ian, of Buckhannon, Mason Simmons of Washington, Pa., Lindsey Williams of Buckhannon, and Kathryn Appleton and husband, Jason, of Smithfield, Pa.; twelve great-grandchildren: Alexa, Olivia, Nekaiya, Isabella, Sophronia, Aldora, Andrew, Dayton, Eva, Alyssa, Ophelia, and Rayna; and one sister, Doris Jean Arnovitz of Cleveland, Ohio.

Greeting her at Heaven’s Gates along with her parents and husband are one daughter, Molly Darlene Howes Smith; two grandchildren: Brianna Lynn Smith and Timothy Wayne Simmons; and one brother, Edwin Meade Queen.

Kathy was a 1950 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School where she was a cheerleader and a 1977 graduate of Business School from West Virginia Wesleyan College.  She worked as a G.S. 6 on Langley Air Base for the United States Air Force. Kathy retired as a legal secretary from Coleman & Wallace Law Office. She was a devoted member of the Reger Chapel United Methodist Church, The United Methodists Women and 4H.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral Chapel with Celebrant Mike Hinkle officiating. Interment will follow at Waterloo Cemetery in French Creek.
