Elmer Kyle Tenney

Elmer Kyle Tenney, 83, of Buckhannon, made his journey to Heaven on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, while in the care of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He was born in Hemlock on October 9, 1938, a son of the late Willis Burkett and Jocie M. Tenney. Greeting him at Heaven’s Gate along with his parents, is one son, Ronald Michael Tenney.

On September 28, 1957, Elmer married the love of his life, Carolyn A. Smith. Together they shared 64 years of marital bliss. They were best friends and she will miss him dearly.

Forever cherishing their memories of Elmer’s devoted nature with his wife are four siblings: Betty Jo Spencer, Brenda Sue Gillespie and husband, Tom, Shirley “Toots” Cutlip and husband, Tom, and Marvin “Buck” Tenney and wife, Shirley, all of Buckhannon; six nieces and nephews: Rhonda, T.C., Todd, Robin, Chuck, and Kelly; and special niece, Carrie.

Elmer graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in the class of 1957. He worked in the coal mines as a foreman for over 37 years, and never missed a day of work. He was a very organized person and liked everything to be in its place.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton.
