Ellwood Eugene Bennett

Ellwood Eugene Bennett, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV, born June 19, 1945, completed his life’s journey and was a Christian by faith, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024. He was the youngest child and son born of the late Emery Alexander Bennett and Ethel Mae Rice Bennett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his older sister, Branice Levera Bennett and brother, Emery Junior Bennett.

Eugene is survived by one brother Ray Austin Bennett and wife, Ilene; one sister Rose Ella McCartney; five children: daughter Christine “Chrissy” Bennett and fiancé, Shawn Pugh, daughter Brenda Bennett Depoy and husband, Walter, son Kevin Bennett, son Lonnie Bennett and wife, Lisa, of San Antonio, TX, and daughter Nichole “Nikkie” Bennett Bryant and fiancé, Rick Shreve; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Rusty Allen Bennett.

Eugene, to some, and Ellwood to others, enjoyed teaching what he had learned from the scriptures as well as playing an occasional game of chess, cards, or dominos. He retired from Moore’s Business Forms after working 20-plus years. Eugene became a craftsman of leather. His work was enjoyed by many. He enjoyed the outdoors and truly loved his family and friends.

Family and Friends will gather for visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. in Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Canaan Cemetery in Rock Cave.
