Ellen Faye Smith

Ellen Faye Smith, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

She was born September 30, 1938, in Eden, WV, a daughter of the late Macil and Oma Gould Walton. On December 9, 1957, she married Richard E. Smith who preceded her in death on April 11, 1997. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rex, Harold, and Willis Walton; one sister, Doris June Walton; one sister-in-law, Carol Walton; two brothers-in- law, Bill Wilder and Dick Barnhart.

She is survived by seven children, Donna Winters and husband Rodney, Barbara Hawkins and husband Wes, Richard Smith and wife Donna, Michael Smith, Laura Smith, Alva Smith and Nicole Hulcher and husband Al all of Buckhannon; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Lonnie Walton and wife June, Roy Walton and wife Susan and Terry Walton and wife Monica all of Buckhannon; two sisters, Susan Wilder and Doug and Kathy Barnhart both of Buckhannon and two sisters-in-law, Jean and Velva Walton both of Buckhannon Mrs. Smith was a CNA in the Skilled Nursing Facility at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

She loved to work puzzles, going on yard sale adventures and caring for her son, who is handicapped.

Friends will be received Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 12 Noon to 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Sinclair officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Kanawha Head, WV.
