The candidate filing period is underway for West Virginia’s May 12, 2026, Primary Election. Here’s a rundown of who has filed so far for Upshur County and Buckhannon races.

The candidate filing period for the May 12, 2026, Primary Election is currently underway in West Virginia. As of Wednesday afternoon, January 14, here are the filings for the Upshur County and City of Buckhannon offices up for election:

Upshur County Board of Education (Non-Partisan – 3 seats)

City candidates may apply to run for any of the available municipal positions from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Buckhannon City Hall, 70 E. Main Street, Monday through Friday. County candidates may file from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Upshur County Courthouse, 40 W. Main Street, in the County Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday.

The cutoff for filing is Saturday, January 31, 2026.
