Elaine M. Hager

Elaine M. Hager, 96, of Buckhannon, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 5, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1929, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Harry Ketcham and Margaret Basch Ketcham. She was united in marriage to Albert Maurice Hager (Morrie) on November 5, 1949, with whom she shared 65 memorable years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson, Michael Hager.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Hager (Julie) of East Aurora, NY, David Hager (Mary) of W. Hartford, CT, and Alan Hager (Katherine) of Buckhannon, WV; grandchildren, Tami Adamczyk, Justin Siebold, Cassie Siebold, Laura Hager, Jenny Stahn, Julia Leone, and Kristen Hager; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Elaine enjoyed a full life centered around her faith and her family. She worked as a buyer for Sibley’s and Country Gentleman in Rochester, NY, using her eye for color and fashion. She loved gardening and was active in the Garden Club. Elaine enjoyed golfing, skiing, tennis, swimming in the lake, and even tried rollerblading. One of her greatest activities was using her gift of hospitality.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canandaigua, NY, and was active in other churches throughout her life. She could be found in the church kitchen preparing meals, on youth retreats, in Bible studies at home or in the church, and generally sharing in the life of the church whenever she could.

She is remembered for her warm smile, her concern for others, her positive outlook, and her ability to celebrate life.

A memorial service for Elaine will be held on October 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Canandaigua, NY, with a reception following at Peppers Restaurant in Canandaigua. Memorials can be made to Christ in Action at christinaction.com.
