Early voting for May 14 Primary Election begins next week in Upshur County
West Virginians can now register as organ, eye and tissue donors while registering to vote, making the state the nation’s second to offer this option. Nearly 250 people have signed up since June 8, offering hope to more than 500 residents awaiting transplants.
Upshur County’s flood distribution center at West Virginia Wesleyan College will close Sunday at 3 p.m. Remaining supplies will move to community sites or Lewis County’s distribution center.
West Virginia’s Blue Envelope Program aims to make traffic stops safer for drivers with autism, dementia or developmental disabilities. Free envelopes provide officers with key documents, emergency contacts and communication guidance.
Buckhannon has waived building and wiring permit fees for flood-related repairs within city limits. The permits themselves are still required, and the city will inspect projects to ensure they are flood-related before granting the waiver.

Flood survivors can apply for Red Cross financial aid in person through Saturday at West Virginia Wesleyan College’s library. Local Rotary and United Way relief funds are also collecting donations and working to determine how residents can request help.
