Dorthy Olea Snow Lane

Dorthy Olea Snow Lane, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon.

She was born November 30, 1939, in Queens, WV, a daughter of the late Dalton H. and Nona May Hornbeck Snow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louetta Paugh and brother, Boyce C. Snow.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Jean Lane Christilles and husband Dennis of Lawrence, KS; one son, Leon Lane II and wife Rebecca of Lexington, KY; two grandsons, Jacob Paul Christilles of Kansas City and Noah Lane Christilles of France; two granddaughters, Rachel E. Lane and Katherine Anne McKinney and husband Corey, one great-grandson, James McKinney and one great-granddaughter, Susan McKinney all of Lexington; four sisters, Marietta Gillespie, Garnetta Banks, Hilda Sayre, and Geraldine Villers all of Buckhannon.

Ms. Lane graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1958 and later went on to study at West Virginia Wesleyan College, graduating in 1995. She worked as a CNA and then a secretary at JA-Roc Corp., Construction. Dorthy was a member of the Hinkleville United Methodist Church. She was an artist and loved reading and spending time with her family.

Her granddaughter, Katherine fondly recalls, “my Grandma’s fingerprints are all over my life: from the TV and movies I love, the songs and books I enjoy, and the arts and crafts we both shared. Her fingers helped shape who I am and will always be a part of me.”

In honoring Dorthy’s wishes she will be cremated and interred at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hinkleville.
