Dora Blanche Neely

Dora Blanche Neely, age 85, of Rock Cave, the Wilsontown Community, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at her home peacefully with Mr. Lee by her side. 

She was born on May 18, 1936, in Webster Springs, WV a daughter of the late Arthur Clarence and Lula Grace Berry Wilson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mason Lee Neely, one son and daughter-in-law Denzil Allen and Sharon Neely, one daughter Vicki Diane Sheppard, brother-in-law Gary Crites, brothers and sisters Hobert, Monter, Carl, Doris, Millie, Esta Mae, Hildred, and Vern. 

She is survived by three grandsons:  S. Christopher and wife Angel Phillips of Powell, TN and their children Gabriel, Rebekah, Gideon, Tirzah, Hannah; Benjamin and wife Marisha Phillips of Bruceton Mills, WV and their children Ashlynn and Kaylan; Brian Patrick Neely of Manchester, NH and his children Colin, Claire and Cameron; Son-in-law Richard N. Sheppard and daughter Janet Starr Sheppard and partner James Moser of Siler City, NC; Dora was the youngest of ten children and is survived by her older brother Carroll “Art” Wilson of Holly Grove; several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Dora donated her time to many organizations across the area which included Upshur County Parish House, Banks District Fire Department, Red Hat Society, SUBA, CEO’s, and set on the Board for Holly River State Park.  She enjoyed the Art’s and Crafts and spent many years painting and spending time helping others in the community.  She was a member of the Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church. 

Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 4-7 PM.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mary Ellen Finegan and S. Christopher Phillips officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery.
