On September 13, 1969, he married Sharon K. Long Ware, who preceded him in death on December 26, 2007. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Ware; brother, Jack Ware; and sister, Jean Morgan.
He is survived by one daughter, Sandy Tomey and husband Jim of Buckhannon; companion, Debbie Kaopuiki of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Amber Shaffer and husband Robbie of Elkins, WV, and Whitney Mulholland and husband Justin of Weston, WV; two great-granddaughters, Kayselyn and Brynleigh Mulholland, both of Weston; and two great-grandsons, Tayte and Kyler Wade Shaffer, both of Elkins, WV.
Mr. Ware was a postmaster. He was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge #598 and the Elks Lodge #1736.
He was the best Pap to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—never missing the chance to celebrate and cheer during the small moments and big milestones. He loved his family fiercely, enjoying camping and beach trips and dinner gatherings with friends.
Delmas never met a stranger. He enjoyed getting to know folks. Delmas loved the Mountaineers. He was always more nervous about the Mountaineers winning than the storm happening outside! He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Delmas was a kind, caring man who was loved by so many. Delmas will be missed by all, especially his family who adored him. But today, he flies high in God’s meadows with the ones his heart yearned for.
Friends will be received Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
