Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center has been recognized by Forbes as one of the nation’s Top Hospitals for 2026, earning a place on the first-time list released this month. Davis Medical Center is one of only five hospitals in West Virginia to receive the honor.

The national recognition places Davis Medical Center among a select group of general acute care hospitals demonstrating exceptional performance across multiple categories including quality and safety, patient outcomes, value and patient experience.

“For our community hospital to be named among the best in the country is a tremendous honor,” said Ronald J. Andro, Senior Vice President of Davis Health System and Chief Administrative Officer of Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center. “This clearly represents the dedication of our physicians, nurses, caregivers and staff who work every day to deliver the highest-quality care to the people of Randolph County and the surrounding region.”

The Forbes Top Hospitals 2026 list was developed in partnership with Inovalon, a health care data and analytics firm, and guided by “nationally recognized measurement experts, physicians, statisticians, health policy researchers and patient advocates.”

The methodology evaluated 56 validated measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Provider Data Catalog. To ensure fairness across diverse communities, Forbes adjusted the outcome measures for social drivers of health such as income, education and access to transportation, allowing for a more accurate comparison among hospitals nationwide.

Approximately 5,400 U.S. general acute care hospitals were initially considered. Only 2,500 met the inclusion criteria and just 762 hospitals ultimately earned overall ratings of four or five stars.

“Quality care doesn’t happen by accident; it’s built on commitment, teamwork and a culture that puts patients first,” added Diana Landsverk, Chief Nursing Officer at Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center and Davis Health System. “Being recognized nationally inspires us to continue raising the bar and expanding access to outstanding health care close to home.”

As one of Vandalia Health’s primary health care providers in the Potomac Highlands, Davis Medical Center’s recognition underscores its commitment to advancing quality care close to home.
