David Morgan Laign

David Morgan Laign, 85, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

He was born March 23, 1935, in Grafton, W.Va., a son of the late Paul Calvin Laign and Gladys Viola Yutzy Laign.

On June 21, 1974, he married Ora Lee Rusmisell Williams of Buckhannon who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Danny Williams of Tucker, Ga., David Williams and his long time girlfriend Amy Goff of Tucker, Ga. and David Laign and wife Louise of Greenwood, S.C.; two daughters, Teresa Knight and husband Fred of Buckhannon and Andrea Laign; five grandsons, Stephen Wright of Buckhannon, Matthew Barnette of Bethlehem, Ga., Matthew Knight and wife Kathryn of Horner, W.Va., Nathaniel Laign of Greenwood SC and Spencer Laign and wife Keely of Somerset Ky.; two granddaughters, Aimee DeFazio and husband Nicholas of Fairmont, W.Va. and Makayla Laign of Greenwood S.C.;  one great-grandson, Remington Barnette of Bethlehem, Ga.; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy Barnette of Bethlehem, Ga. and Hadlee DeFazio of Fairmont, W.Va. and Special Care Provider Jason Howes of Buckhannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Richard and Phillip Thomas Laign and two sisters, Barbara Anne Ashenfelter and Mary Sue Ross.

Mr. Laign served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the 304th Signal Battalion, the 8th Army Forward.

He was employed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington D.C. until his retirement. He was self-employed with several small business’ following his retirement.

He enjoyed golf and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon.

In honoring Mr. Laign’s wishes, his body was donated to W.Va. Human Gift Registry. The family would like to send a special thank you to the entire staff of West Virginia Hospice. Trump 2020.
