Community members at Almost Heaven CrossFit honored fitness and fallen war heroes Saturday with their participation in Memorial Day Murph. An annual tradition for CrossFit gyms across the nation, the “Murph” workout pays tribute to Lt. Michael “Murph” Murphy who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. The challenging workout, consisting a 2 mile long runs, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats brought together 35 athletes on Saturday, all of whom completed the effort solo or with a partner. This also marked the first event for Almost Heaven CrossFit since their opening last month.
