City of Buckhannon calendar for the week of January 5, 2026

Buckhannon’s city calendar for the week of Jan. 5 includes curbside recycling, the Colonial Arts Center board meeting, a Mountaineer Mile ribbon cutting at the Riverwalk, and the Water Board meeting. Bulky goods collection is Friday.

All meetings, unless specified otherwise, are open to the public and will take place in the Council Chambers at Buckhannon City Hall, located at 70 E Main St.

Tuesday, January 6

Curbside Recycling Pick-up begins at 6 a.m. – Pick-up occurs within the Buckhannon city limits. Information about recycling can be found on the city website, at City Hall, or by calling the Recycling Center or the Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at 304-472-4443.

Wednesday, January 7

Mountaineer Mile Ribbon Cutting Event, 12 p.m. – The City of Buckhannon, the Upshur County Commission and the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce have worked together to add another Upshur County Mountaineer Mile destination, with this one located at the Buckhannon City Riverwalk. Join city, county and Chamber leaders along with community members for the ribbon cutting event at the Buckhannon Walk Trail (baseball field side).

Thursday, January 8

Friday, January 9

Bulky Goods Collection begins at 5:30 a.m. – Bulky goods collection for large items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, appliances, etc. All Buckhannon Waste Department customers are allowed four items per month and eight tires per year. You must call by Wednesday, January 7 to schedule a pick-up. Items must be at the curb by 5:30 a.m. on Friday to ensure pick-up.

  • Snow should be cleared from sidewalks.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection and return them within 24 hours after collection.
