City highlights Christmas Visits to Fairyland event, other holiday happenings

BUCKHANNON — The City of Buckhannon cordially invites you to continue celebrating the holiday season this week in Buckhannon with:

Christmas Visits to Fairyland – Join the Buckhannon Upshur Retail Merchants Association and the Baxa Inn for “Christmas Visits to Fairyland” on Saturday, December 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. The location is on North Kanawha Street and the Baxa Inn parking lot.

Children will enjoy visits with Santa & Mrs. Claus, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, and the Three Little Pigs, along with over 100 Christmas trees. Food vendors, arts and crafts tables, face painting, games, free candy, cookies and hot chocolate are all a part of this seasonal celebration. This event is sponsored by the Buckhannon Upshur Retail Merchants Association, The Baxa Inn, and The City of Buckhannon. 

Street Closing Alert • Dec 9, 2023 – N. Kanawha Street will be closed from Main Street to the Senior Center Alley for the Christmas Visits to Fairyland event.

“A Christmas Story,” continues at the Colonial Arts Center — The Buckhannon Community Theatre (BCT) is thrilled to present “A Christmas Story,” adapted by the talented Philip Grecian.  This production is particularly special as it features a mostly child-based cast, showcasing the incredible talent of young actors in our community.  Some shows have already sold out, so make your plans and secure your tickets NOW! 

The remaining performance dates for “A Christmas Story” are as follows: December 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and December 9 and 10 at 2 p.m. Purchase available tickets at the Upshur Visitors Center/CVB, Salon 88 or City Hall.
