Buckhannon-Upshur battled back for a 1-1 draw against defending state champion Bridgeport, ending the Indians’ perfect 13-0 start. Carter Haney’s late header capped a spirited effort backed by stout defense and 10 saves from Landon Wright.

Buckhannon-Upshur returns from its bye week to host Fairmont Senior Friday at 7 p.m. in the annual Hall of Fame Game. The Bucs aim to improve ball security against a tough Polar Bears squad whose 1–4 record belies its strength.

Buckhannon-Upshur finished third at Apple Valley with a team score of 194 to close its regular season. Emma Pingley led the Bucs with a 47 as they prepare for Tuesday’s regional tournament at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston.

First Community Bank edged Custom Cabinets 22–18 to widen its Bob Cupp Memorial Golf League lead to 5½ points with one week left in the quarter. Chris Brady and Jerry Cochran shared Low Actual honors with 36s, while Cochran took Low Net with a 30.

The Little Lady Bucs earned a 2–0 road win at Bridgeport before falling to East Fairmont and Taylor County in a demanding three-game stretch. B-UMS stands at 2–2 overall as the team looks to regain momentum.

The Little Bucs bounced back from a loss at Liberty with a dominant 40-8 win over Elkins, improving to 3-1 at midseason. Buckhannon-Upshur Middle piled up 308 rushing yards and six touchdowns, led by Kyler Baisden’s 135 yards.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s four-game unbeaten streak ended with a 1-0 road loss to Fairmont Senior after a third-minute goal. The Bucs pressed for an equalizer but couldn’t finish, with tough home tests against Bridgeport and Cabell Midland up next.

Alex Fisher shot a 43 to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to third place at the Route 33 Challenge at Elks Golf Course. The Bucs posted a 177 with three golfers in the top 10, while Lewis County won the team title with a 159.

Buckhannon-Upshur showed fight but fell 2-0 at Fairmont Senior despite putting 10 shots on goal. Coach Rosie Shackleford praised the Lady Bucs’ teamwork and effort as they look to break an offensive slump.

Buckhannon-Upshur rolled past Tygarts Valley in a 3-0 sweep, extending the Lady Bucs’ winning streak to five and improving to 16-8. With 26 aces and growing confidence, B-U kept its midseason surge rolling while experimenting with positions.

Buckhannon-Upshur High School will induct five athletes and its 1993 boys state champion soccer team into the Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 3. The honorees will also be recognized at Friday’s football game, and $20 banquet tickets remain available.

Buckhannon-Upshur sits at No. 14 in the WVSSAC Class AAAA playoff ratings at the regular season’s midpoint, inside the top 16 that qualify for the postseason. The 1-3 Buccaneers return from a bye Friday to host Fairmont Senior.
