Men’s golf resumed at Buckhannon Country Club after a four-week rain delay, with Custom Cabinets taking the league lead at 71 points. Brian Gaudet earned Low Actual honors with a 36 and shared Low Net honors with Hank Ellis at 32.

The Lady Bobcats scored 54 seconds into their season but needed an Ayan Ahmed header with 3:35 to play to earn a 2-2 draw at Shippensburg in Thursday’s opener. Zoe Brown made 12 saves as Wesleyan withstood a 24-8 deficit in shots.

Wesleyan softball to hold ID Camp Oct. 3
West Virginia Wesleyan College Softball will host its 2026 ID Camp on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Buckhannon. The $50 camp includes admissions information, a campus tour, lunch and softball instruction; registration and waivers are due Sept. 29.
Both B-UMS cross-country teams run well at St. Marys Invitational
Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School opened its 2026 cross-country season with strong runs at the St. Marys Invitational. The boys placed fourth, the girls finished 15th, and Felix Stump and Audrey Johnston each earned seventh-place finishes.

Bella Nottingham and Mitchell Whitley are the Hank Ellis All-Stars for Aug. 17-23. Nottingham made 24 saves in a 1-1 soccer draw, while Whitley led B-U at the St. Mary’s Invitational with a three-minute improvement.

Whitley’s breakthrough leads B-U in St. Marys cross-country season opener
Sophomore Mitchell Whitley led Buckhannon-Upshur with a 37th-place finish in 17:54.6, nearly three minutes faster than last year. The Buccaneers placed 19th among 28 teams at the St. Marys Autumn Classic.
