Carolyn M. Unrue

Carolyn M. Unrue, age 75, of Sago Road, Buckhannon, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home. 

She was born on June 16, 1946, in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Harold Dennis and Dorothy Jean Murphy Keener.  On May 20, 1984, she was united in marriage to Hobert Ray Unrue, who preceded her in death on September 3, 2021.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister Betty Jean Westfall. 

She is survived by one stepdaughter Janice Ratliff of Ironton, OH; one stepson Ray Unrue, Jr. of French Creek; two sisters:  Barbara Simmons and Kathryn Marsh, both of Weston; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her beloved canine companion, Pepper.

From 1973-2016, Mrs. Unrue was employed as an administrative assistant by the WV Department of Highways, Equipment Division in Upshur County.  She enjoyed camping, boating, and cooking, especially experimenting with new recipes.  She was an avid genealogist, a collector of teapots, loved animals and throughout her lifetime, was blessed with many dogs of all breeds.

Her request for cremation and graveside service will be honored.  The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Hampton Cemetery with Pastor Mike Hinkle officiating.
