Carolyn Kay Lance

Carolyn Kay Lance, 75, of French Creek, W.Va., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at her home.

She was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Pitcher, Okla., a daughter of the late Howard and Ruby Flippin Beavers.

On March 8, 1961, she married Gerald Dale Lance who preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2008.

In addition to her parents and husband she was a preceded in death by an infant sister, Patsy Beavers.

Surviving are six daughters, Ruby Fowler and husband Dale of Brookings, Ore., Jeri Lynne Long and husband Perry of Ellamore, W.Va., Jennifer Kenney and husband Junior of French Creek, Rebecca Chidester and husband Rocky of Buckhannon, W.Va., Lynda Garcia and husband Eric of Buckhannon and Cassie Hamner and husband Chris of French Creek; four granddaughters, Amie Conner and husband Dan of Colorado Springs, Colo., Maya Garcia, and Brooklynn and Gracie Chidester all of Buckhannon; seven grandsons, Perry Dale Long and wife Rena of Ellamore, Jamie Keys and wife Brittany of Minot, N.D., Eric McCartney and wife Brittany of Buckhannon, Brandon Lee and wife Becca and Caleb and Cory Hamner all of French Creek and Liam Garcia of Buckhannon; eight great-granddaughters, Rachel, Brooklyn, Emma Rose, Natalie, Haylie, Ryley, Amelia and Evelyn; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Jamie Jr.; one sister, Shirley Cox of AR and three brothers, Ronnie Beavers of Ala., Jimmy Beavers and wife Sheila of MS and Danny Joe Beavers of Ark.

Mrs. Lance was a homemaker and a Christian by faith who loved her family and was proud of everyone of her grandchildren.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and loved to travel and play bingo. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at W.Va. Hospice in Buckhannon. Friends will be received Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Gower officiating.

In honoring Mrs. Lance’s wishes she will be cremated following the service.
