Cale, Neely, Pugh to represent B-U girls at state track and field meet

BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur High School girl’s track and field team will compete in seven events at the West Virginia AAA State Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday in Charleston.

Chloe Cale, Dezi Pugh and Catherine Neely will represent the Lady Bucs at the two-day meet at Laidley Field.

Cale was the regional champion in the long jump, where she leaped 16-10.5 for the win. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.77. She is currently ranked ninth in the state in the long jump.

Pugh won the 300-meter hurdles at regionals with a time of 48.51. She also finished fourth in both the 200-meter dash (26.87) and 400-meter dash (1:00.36). Her best ranking statewide is in the 300 hurdles, where Pugh is eighth.

In the field events, Neely will compete at the state meet in both the shot put and discus after finishing third in both events at regionals. She heads to Charleston seeded ninth in the discus with a throw of 110-1.

Lacrosse Bucs crush Wheeing Park for first win, 15-3

Buckhannon-Upshur powered to its first win of the season with a 15-3 rout of Wheeling Park, using balanced scoring from seven players despite a near 30-minute delay. Braylon Oldaker, Easton Rice and Tobias Marple netted three goals each as the Bucs improved to 1-1.
