Brenda Joyce Shannon

Brenda Joyce Shannon, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Holbrooks Healthcare Center in Buckhannon. She was born March 12, 1950, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Clinton and Madaline Smith Phillips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Rodney Phillips.

Brenda is survived by her loving partner, Charles “Hard Rock” Lucas of Buckhannon; three sons, Kevin Shannon and wife Tracy, and Mark Shannon and wife Tara, all of Buckhannon, and Matthew Shannon and wife Kasie of Florida.

She was a proud grandmother to Kaylea Kelley and husband William of Frost, WV; Kaitlyn Shannon and partner Wes Lowther of Buckhannon; Logan Shannon and partner Emily Sinclair of Buckhannon; Tyler Bedford and wife Nicole of Montrose, WV; Kendra Brewer and husband Nathaniel of Philippi, WV; Dustin Bedford of Indiana; Taylor Konya and husband Clayton of Morgantown, WV; and Raelynn Shannon of Florida.

She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Cian, and Shelia Kelley; Amelia and Brantley Shannon; and Sophia, Adalyn, Tyler, Ally, and Kolette Bedford.

She is also survived by her siblings, Carolyn Grove and Autry Phillips and wife Snooks, all of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Jinxy.

Brenda worked as a CNA and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She found joy in gardening and tending to her flowers, cooking for those she loved, listening to Jimmy Swaggart, and spending quiet time at home surrounded by family.

She had a strong faith in God and shared her love for Jesus with everyone she met. Her faith guided her life, and she found great comfort in speaking with others about the Lord. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to her faith, and the love and encouragement she shared so freely with those around her. Her family finds peace in knowing she has gone home to be with the Lord.

Friends will be received Friday, February 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Buckhannon.
