Bragg receives DAISY Award for nursing excellence at Vandalia Health Broaddus Hospital

PHILIPPI, W.Va. (October 15, 2026) – Vandalia Health Broaddus Hospital proudly recognizes Criss Bragg, RN, a charge nurse at Mansfield Place, as its latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, an international honor celebrating the compassion, skill and dedication nurses bring to patient care every day.

Bragg was nominated by a colleague for his compassionate care of long-term care residents and his commitment to supporting fellow staff members. His nomination highlighted the kindness, patience and respect he shows every resident, along with his willingness to help wherever needed.

“He never makes anyone feel like a burden and always takes the time to help others, no matter how busy he is,” his colleague wrote in a letter of support. “He never acts like any task is beneath him.”

From helping serve meal trays to answering call lights, Bragg was recognized for working alongside certified nursing assistants and ensuring residents’ needs are met. His colleague praised his caring heart, work ethic and positive attitude, describing him as “the kind of nurse every resident deserves and every coworker appreciates.”

“Criss understands that exceptional care comes from both compassion and teamwork,” said Dana Gould, chief administrative officer of Vandalia Health Broaddus Hospital. “The kindness he shows our residents and the support he provides his colleagues make a meaningful difference at Mansfield Place every day. We are proud to recognize his dedication and grateful for the example he sets for our team.”
